NXCL Competition Management

Having devised and/or managed the UK NXCL DB,  results compilation, publication and websites since, I think, 1996; it is now time to move on and let others develop a more modern system that may, perhaps, better meet the needs of competing pilots.

So, the UK NXCL can continue, in it’s current form, until the end of the 2010 season, if that’s what’s wanted. Between now and the start of the 2011 season, 1 Nov 2010, it’s up to other volunteers to devise a new system ready and in place to run things for the start of the 2011 season.

This leaves new volunteers 9 months to develop an alternative. Those interested should make the BHPA HG  Comps panel aware of their interest. Flight data, to date, can be made available, through the panel, if it was felt this may help in building a new system (or if such a new system is to include historical data).

The current system, developed and hacked over the years, is not really in a suitable state to ‘pass on’ to any one else to administer, too many quirks, too many components, scripts and different development languages to reasonably expect successful installation and operation on another PC by someone unfamiliar with it all at the most detailed level. Much better if someone started again and built a new, cleaner system!

Meantime try out  www.xcleague.com and see if it suits

That is,  participation remains free to all competitors. No charges to register and No charges to submit your flights so, No reason not to take part.
